Peter Lougheed Hall is the University of Alberta’s newest completed student residence building and is located between Saskatchewan Drive and 90 Avenue, adjacent to Adair Park. It was designed to further develop East Campus Village into an inviting, walkable, student-focused and vibrant neighbourhood connecting the campus to adjoining amenities. Completed in 2017, this 80,000 square foot facility includes approximately 150 beds (in one and two bedroom configurations) and boasts a large inspirational space with video conferencing capabilities for social gatherings, lectures and seminars, amenity spaces, a dining hall, fitness facilities, a recreation room and office support space.
Peter Lougheed Hall was designed based upon achieving a Green Globes 4 certification and SMP was the Electrical Sub-Consultant involved in the design of the Lighting, Power Systems, Low Tension Systems including Fire Alarm, Voice/Data, Wireless and Security Systems. This project was construction managed and formed a design-assist throughout the value engineering stages.
SMP worked closely with the design team, client, and construction team during the design and construction period; as well as completed 70% of the construction administration, supervised the construction of the facility, and completed field reviews.
